Shuswap First Responders

 

If you are interested in becoming a First Responder Contact:

We still need members in Tappen, Sorrento  & Eagle Bay

 

  To become a First Responder

  • 32 hours of training (no cost) at Firehall #1 Passchendaele Road,  Sorrento

  • criminal record check has to be completed

Re-certification is necessary every 3 years

  • 16 hours of training (no cost)

  •  CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), Spinal Management and AED (automated external defibrillator)

  • these courses are also given once you have your First Responder License

  We all carry extensive medical equipment (supplied by South Shuswap First Responders)

  • medical bag with various medical equipment from bandages, cold & hot packs. glucogel, scissors etc

  • oxygen, airways and pocket masks

  • BVM - bag valve masks

  • blanket bag with 2 blankets

  • clipboard for medical forms to fill out

  • there are 5 automated external defibrillator's among us

  • medical gloves

  • 2 way radio

    Practices

  • We meet every second Wednesday, 7:00pm at Fire Hall #1, in Sorrento, Passchendaele Road, right next to the Sorrento Hall.

  • you are encouraged to attend every meeting, but must attend a minimum of 12 practices per year to keep your license active
